Untitled, skaters

How have you defined the crossing over of documentary photography with fashion photography?

Ari: It's hard to say. Fashion photography is always done in assignment. My own work is never assigned it's just what I want to do. There is no real crossover.

How much of your work is documentary and how much is it fashion?

Ari: Fashion photography takes up very little of my work. Probably 5%

How are important are the themes, the casting, the location and who is the audience?

Ari: The audiences for fashion photography are whoever it is marketed too by the magazine or the brand. Casting location is all-important but the client usually in the end defines it. For me my own work and fashion work are totally separate.

If you talk about crossover perhaps the attitude and the way I photography things fairly straight forward is the similarity.
